This statue must have initially portrayed a married couple. This is indicated by the remains of a hand on
the right arm of a woman (the couple might have stood arm in arm). There are no inscriptions on the
statue; therefore it is impossible to determine who the woman was. She may have been a member of a
noble family – this is shown by the type of stone and supreme quality of the sculptor's work.
