I.A.Smirnova attributed this work to Licinio on the basis of its similarity to the Portrait of Stefano Nani (1528) in London's National Gallery. Judging by the costume and appearance of the male figure, it can be assumed that this is a portrait of a German merchant, of which there was no small number in the Venice of that time.
