Signature on the rump of a horse presented as a polygonal monogram: BC.

It numbers among the artist's most outstanding works. In the past it was held to be a work of the French pаinter Sébastien Bourdon. P. Rosenberg (1968) attributed it to Cavallino. The painting Mucius Scaevola before Porsenna in the Kimbell Art Museum at Fort Worth belongs to the same series. A preliminary drawing relating to the painting in the Pushkin Museum was sold at a Colnaga auction in London.
