This work was created in Paris. In the 1920s and 1930s the artist often turned to the theme of a nude model. The background is generalised and the ornament applied by scratching. The large, voluminous figure fills the space of the work which, in spite of its small dimensions, acquires a monumental character. The artist himself said of this work: "One must know how to convey an impression of size even in a small painting..."
