North Italian master
Saint Jerome. Circa 1485

24×20 cm
Берлин Инв.№ 250

A small terracotta relief with St. Jerome and a lion came to the Berlin Museums in 1887 from Bologna. Next to St. Jerome absorbed in his thoughts in front of a crucifix hung on a tree, one can see a hermit cave and the half-effaced view of a fortress and a church of an emphasized form of Renaissance period that vaguely resembles Donato Bramante buildings.
