Dear Visitors,

Russian citizens can enter the museum only with a Russian QR code and a passport. Children aged 17 years or under do not need a QR code. Foreign citizens can present either a Russian QR code or a negative PCR test result issued no earlier than 24 hours before their visit. Masks must still be worn on the territory of the museum. Please have your QR code and passport ready when you arrive at the museum in order to speed up the entry process.

These new rules were promulgated by the Moscow City Government and the Russian Ministry of Culture and allow for no exceptions. Take a look at the FAQs about QR codes and the temporary visitors’ rules so as not to be caught off guard by the demands of museum staff when you arrive. If you don’t find an answer to your question, please contact us through the feedback form or by telephone: +7 (495) 697-9578, +7 (495) 697-1546.

    • What kind of QR code do you need to visit the museum?
    • Visitors need to bring a Russian QR code in paper or electronic format. Such a QR code can be obtained in three ways:
    • - If you have been vaccinated in Russia against COVID-19 with a vaccine that is registered in Russia
    • - If you have been officially diagnosed with COVID-19 in the past 6 months and are listed in the Russian register of COVID-19 patients
    • - If you have made a PCR test in a Moscow laboratory connected to EMIAS and received a negative result
    • The QR code must still be valid when you enter the museum.
    • How to get a Russian QR code?
    • The QR code can be received at a municipal polyclinic or electronically through the Gosuslugi website or the EMIAS.INFO mobile app. For more information about the different ways of getting QR codes, please visit the mos.ru or Gosuslugi websites.
    • Does a child need a QR code to visit the museum?
    • No, children aged 17 years or under can visit the museum without a QR code. However, an ID may be required to verify the child’s age.
    • Can I present a medical certificate, vaccination certificate or other document instead of a QR code?
    • Entry to the museum for Russian citizens is allowed only upon the presentation of a Russian QR code and a passport. A certificate with the results of antibody tests, a certificate of medical contraindication to vaccination, a paper certificate of vaccination or other medical documents are not valid substitutes for a QR code (Decree of the Mayor of Moscow #62-UM of 21 October 2021).
    • A negative PCR test result without a QR code only allows foreign citizens to enter the museum. The test result must be obtained no earlier than 24 hours before visiting the museum (Order of the Russian Ministry of Culture #1780 of 1 November 2021). A passport must be presented together with the test result.
    • How can a foreign citizen visit the museum?
    • Foreign citizens can obtain a Russian QR code on the basis of a negative PCR test result and present it at the museum entrance (such a QR code is valid 72 hours and must be entered into EMIAS; for more information and a link to the form to be filled out by foreign citizens wishing to get a QR code, see the Moscow Mayor’s official website mos.ru). Alternatively, they can present a negative PCR test result (in digital or paper format) that was obtained no earlier than 24 hours before their visit to the museum.
    • Can a foreign citizen show a QR code from a vaccination performed in another country?
    • No, a QR code obtained in another country is not valid in Russia.
    • What can I do if I don’t have my passport with me?
    • Unfortunately, you won’t be able to enter the museum. A QR code is considered valid for entry only if it is accompanied by an ID. Please take your passport along and have it ready when entering the museum.
    • If I have a medical contraindication against vaccination, how can I visit the museum?
    • You can get a QR code on the basis of a negative PCR test result and visit the museum with the QR code. For more information about getting a QR code, see the Moscow Mayor’s official website.
    • What should I do if I’m experiencing problems with my QR code?
    • Please consult the website or organisation through which you obtained your QR code.
    • If I’m not admitted to the museum when I arrive, can I return my tickets?
    • Unfortunately, this will not be possible. According to the User’s Agreement, a museum ticket can be returned only before the day of the visit written upon it (until 23:59 of the preceding day). Ticket returns are not allowed on the day of the visit. When you purchase museum tickets, you have to press special buttons to confirm your agreement with the Museum Visitors’ Rules and with the fact that each adult visitor must not only present a ticket but also a QR code and passport, and you are responsible for respecting these rules.
