From 17 to 23 September the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts with support of the Charity Foundation «Absolut-Help» will host the International Inclusive Festival, dedicated to questions of overcoming physical and communication barriers in a contemporary museum.
Programme of the Festival consists of events, aimed in the same time for people with special needs and regular visitors: sound and plastic artistic performances, plays, tactile workshops, film screenings and multi-sensory works by contemporary artists. During the Festival there will be a performance «Japanese Motifs (Butoh Dance)», created by the theatre company of the Center for Realisation of Creative Projects «Inclusion» of the Foundation supporting deaf-blind people «Connection». The opening will feature the play «Masterpieces of Japanese poetry in the Russian sign language», performed by hearing impaired actors of the theatre company «Nedoslov». The Festival will include presentations of the projects «Time Machine» (co-sponsored by the company «Lanit»), and of the educational programme «Specialist in guided tours for visitors with special health needs at arts museums», created together with the Institute «Reakomp».
The scientific conference, a part of the Festival, contains: a lecture by Hsiu -Ling Huang from the National Palace Museum (Taipei), a master-class lead by Barry Ginley, Curator of Inclusive Programs at the Victoria and Albert Museum (London), a multi-sensory workshop lead by Rebecca McGinnis, the Head Officer of Inclusive and Educational Projects at the Met Museum (New-York), and a guided tour by Molly Bretton, Access Manager at the Royal Academy of Arts (London).
This year the Inclusive Festival at the State Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts is dedicated to the theme «Understanding Museum». The special focus of the events this year is drawn to the issue of engagement with the visitors with mental disabilities. The question of comprehending art by people with development particularities is still broadly discussed. Programme of the Inclusive Festival will consist of lectures and public discussions, addressing the the worldview, understanding art and creative abilities of people with special needs.
Curator of the Festival – Evgeniya Kiseleva, Head of the Department of Access and Inclusion of the State Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts. Coordinators: Albina Djumaeva, Mark Molochnikov, Senior Specialists of the Department of Access and Inclusion.
Among the speakers of the Festival: Director of the Pushkin Museum Marina Loshak, artist Leonid Tishkov, adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Alexandra Levitskaya, art-therapist Mariya Dreznina, Executive Director of the Charity Foundation «Absolut-Help» Polina Filippova, Head of the Museion Educational Centre Olga Morozova, Vice-President for social issues of the Group of companies «Lanit» Elena Gens, neurobiologist Alexander Sorokin, staff members of the State Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts and other museums.
