Founded in 1997, the Baltic branch is Russia’s westernmost NCCA network branch active in the contemporary art field. Besides from exhibiting best of Russian and foreign contemporary artworks, the branch creates its own art pieces, forms an intellectual space for experiment, analysis and critics, and promotes art as one of crucial factors for social and cultural development. A special focus is made on unique strategies of artists and curators, their relevance and social promotion, as well as providing assistance for the audience to navigate  the modern art process.

The branch’s key programs are: Legacy in Contemporary Context, Old New Media, Contemporary Art and Contemporary Society, Art in Public Transport, Art and Science in Postbiology Era, Sound Around Kaliningrad, Close Strangers, Artist-in-Residence. Educational programs: Art Wednesdays and Art Classics.

Sound Around Kaliningrad international sound art and experimental music festival was launched in 2012. It is Kaliningrad’s only annual international professional event in the field of sound art and experimental music. Festival curators have established intense cooperation with artists that continue the early 20^th century Avant-garde art traditions related to scientific and technological progress and achievements in any field of scientific knowledge, as well as with cross-media artists working with sound and image, sound and performance, or sound and literature. The program includes concert, exhibition, and educational sections. Since its first event, over 80 artists from 16 countries have taken part in the festival.
