The branch is active as a project-based entity, it builds partnership and cooperation with city institutions, curators, and artists to provide for the local art scene development, form a transparent contemporary art infrastructure and create various opportunities for global and cross-regional collaboration.

Since 2019, the branch organizes the annual international Curatorial Forum and Art Weekend.

The branch’s key priorities include:

  • art of Saint Petersburg today;
  • integration of Saint Petersburg and Russian contemporary art into the global creative process;

Curatorial Forum

The Curatorial Forum launched in 2019 is an annual project established by The Pushkin Museum branch in St. Petersburg and gathering leading institutional and independent curators, gallerists, and art managers. The Curatorial Forum provides for strengthening and developing ties between Russian artists and specialists in culture with fellow professionals from other countries and regions, as well as increasing the interest of St. Petersburg’s general public in contemporary art. The Forum’s public program includes the Art Weekend: exhibitions, discussions, guided tours to artists’ studios and St. Petersburg’s unconventional creative itineraries.
